'll want to take it easy because the roads will be slippery. you can see in northern california the rain coming down quite a bit. they need it because they've been dealing with exceptional levels of drought. last year was the dryest year on record, as we've been telling you, and finally they're getting needed rain across northern california. whenever the reservoirs fill up it will bring that rain all the way down to southern california where they desperately need it. that's great news, and we're expecting this to continue for quite awhile. elsewhere across the country, well, it's very chilly across the north central plains. the temperatures are about 15 to 30 degrees below where they should be this time of year. we have a look at temperatures this time of year, minus 5, minus 13 in fargo. it's chilly out there. elsewhere in the northeast finally getting a bit of a break from the snow to step outside in new york city, and the sun is definitely shining. we have a little bit of light snow as we track through tomorrow. we have that to look forward to. back to you, morgan. >> we'll tell you a

getting new details about a mass murder at a northern california reservation. >> joe vasquez tells us what the woman allegedly did after running out of ammo. joe? >> reporter: ken, i just got off the phone with the police chief telling me six people are shot, four are dead, and two wounded. a woman who is a former tribal leader is in jail. this is near the oregon border. 44-year-old shari rhodes is charged with four counts of murder and two counts of attempted murder. now here is a photo from the county record newspaper. aside from the court proceedings, school was also in session in this very building. in fact, that includes a day care with five day old child inside. the police chief tells me rhodes suddenly drew a semiautomatic handgun and started shooting. two women and two men are dead ages from 19 to 50. after cheiron out of ammo, she ran and got a butcher knife out of the kitchen. a bystander tackled rhodes to the ground. that probably saved some lives. the chief says it was a witness. a bystander who was covered in blood who ran to if nearby police station and reported the mass murd

into early this morning. it's been a very productive month in terms of terms in northern california and rainfall. the most recent one you can see the totals adding up in the north bha and san rafael. 1.86 inches. that's from yesterday right on through early this morning. san francisco nearly an inch. san jose .69 and hayward nearly an inch of rain. we'll be adding more to the totals. right now, the live doppler, just a few clouds out there, but in terms of significant rainfall, nothing showing up but there's a chance of a scattered shower in the forecast for today. here's what's -- you can see the wider perspective. still some lingering rain and snowshowers out to our east, especially out toward the sierra. still some coverage for the mountains here and the activity will continue to be a factor over the next few hours and more snow in the forecast. we have another storm to talk about you can see developing offshore. this is the storm number two. this will be the key source for rainfall and wind as we head into late tonight and into early tomorrow morning. so coming up, at 12:20, we'
